The Matchups, 11/4/13

A new week brings with it a fresh start for bigger and better things opposite a different opponent.

One who, mind you, didn’t fare much hotter than did yours truly in Week 1. The Chicken Bargnani Heroes went 2-6 opposite Swaggy E, coming out ahead only in blocks and three-pointers made.

That’s enough to give your fearless flunker faith in the D-RODs’ ability to come through against none other than Bleacher Report‘s own NBA Draft guru, Jonathan Wasserman.

Here’s a quick look at what Monday (and the week ahead) brings for this clash of whatever the opposite of titans is.

ANALYSIS

Looks like my week should be off to a decent start—unless Mike Miller decides to party like it’s 2000-01, when he burst onto the scene as the NBA’s Rookie of the Year.

My 4-1 player advantage looks nice on paper, but, after a rough first week, I have my doubts as to whether or not Kris Humphries and Alonzo Gee will contribute anything of value to the cause.

Long-term, I must say I’m concerned about going toe-to-toe with a team that features a pack of productive youngsters, including Ty Lawson, Bradley Beal, Tobias Harris, Kyle Lowry, John Henson and, of course, Mr. Unibrow himself. Clearly, my boy Wass knows a thing or two about picking players and drafting for value.

Then again, when you’re playing the game like I am—which is to say, nihilistically—what concern should his team be to me? If my only fantasy-related objective right now is to improve, then even a week like Wass had to start the season would be an upgrade in my book.

Which reminds me, here’s our theme song for the week/year/forever.
