ANALYSIS

Get excited, people! A whirlwind of a week for us here at The Lazy Man’s Guide to Fantasy Sports ends with the Derrick Rosie O’Donnells not losing a matchup for just the second time this season.

Chalk it up to steady progress, I s’pose. Two weeks before, my D-RODs were run into the ground by Ethan Norof’s Swaggy E squad, 7-1. The week after that, they finished 3-5 against Grant Rindner’s Ames Black Falcons. Now, they’ve got an “Even Steven” week in their back pocket, with only a slight deficit in free throw shooting to keep them away from the winner’s circle.

Winning that one category would’ve marked a milestone in the overall league standings, too…

If not for Joel Cordes’ team pulling ahead in free throw percentage, my D-RODs wouldn’t be in sole possession of last place in Bleacher Report’s fantasy basketball league. Instead, we’d be in a tug-of-war for the bottom of the barrel with Mike Walsh’s Big State.

Which, coincidentally, brings me to my matchup for the first full week of 2014…

ANALYSIS

I must say, I like my chances against Big State this week. Like me, Mike Walsh doesn’t have any overwhelmingly awesome superstars on his squad. The closest he comes to that is Monta Ellis and, to a lesser extent, Rudy Gay. And, considering his record, the proceedings should be pretty evenly matched.

Especially in light of his own 4-4 tie with Josh Cohen’s The Pipe last week.

Here’s hoping Jameer Nelson and Paul Pierce are able to outproduce Kyle Korver significantly enough to give my D-RODs a solid head-start in this matchup.
