ANALYSIS

NBA box scores can be teases sometimes, can’t they?

I was perusing through them last night, as I often do to see who’s hot, who’s not, etc. I couldn’t help but notice that a number of players who “moonlight” as members of the Derrick Rosie O’Donnells put together some tremendous performances.

There was Joakim Noah’s 26-19-6 with two steals and two blocks and Jameer Nelson’s 31-6-10 in the Chicago Bulls’ triple-overtime victory against the Orlando Magic. There was Goran Dragic’s 18-10-7 with two steals and a block to propel the Phoenix Suns to a win over the Los Angeles Lakers, and Nene’s 19-4-9 with two steals and three blocks in the Washington Wizards’ blowout of the Miami Heat.

And yet, those extraordinary performances did little (if anything) to advance my cause opposite Josh Cohen’s The Pipe. In fact, The Pipe actually made headway in points, rebounds and assists!

As a result, my overall lead has shrunk from 6-2 to 5-3. Such are the frustrations inherent in fantasy basketball, I s’pose.

Hopefully, Thursday’s three-game slate will do me better…

ANALYSIS

Paul Pierce has already done his dance in London with the Brooklyn Nets, but I won’t dig into his performance opposite the Atlanta Hawks (which was quite good, if I may say so) at this time. If you’re too antsy to wait, then, by all means, consult your nearest box score for more information.

A strong night from Serge Ibaka on both ends of the floor during the Oklahoma City Thunder’s meeting with the Houston Rockets on TNT would be of great assistance to my D-RODs. If Ibaka can knock down some shots on one end and disrupt Dwight’s flow on the other, my team may yet put a dent in The Pipe’s substantial advantage in points.

So long as Luis Scola and Raymond Felton don’t pop off for big nights…
